Each month, the Shining Star Award honors a team member who wholeheartedly embodies the values and mission of Michigan Works! Southwest. Selected through peer nominations, this recognition shines a spotlight on individuals who consistently go above and beyond, creating a meaningful impact for both those they serve and our internal team.

April’s peers recognized her for the many ways she helps keep Albion Awesome through her commitment to collaboration and customer-centered service. As a Career Navigator, April plays a vital role in strengthening the connection between Talent Solutions and Business Services, thoughtfully linking job seekers with employers and ensuring seamless coordination with the Business Services team.

April is also a key supporter of Employer of the Day events and job fairs, contributing through promotion, organization, and facilitation. Her active involvement helps expand employment opportunities and ensures these events are welcoming, effective, and impactful for both employers and job seekers.

In addition, April goes above and beyond to connect customers with Michigan Works! Southwest programs and community resources, providing well-rounded support tailored to individual needs. Her ability to build and maintain strong relationships with community partners enhances collaboration, outreach, and service delivery throughout Albion and beyond.
