Inspiring the Future Workforce: MiCareerQuest™ Southwest 2025

When more than 4,500 middle school students from across southwest Michigan walk into the Kalamazoo County Expo Center this week, they will step into more than just an event, they will embark on an interactive, hands-on journey exploring careers that could shape their futures.

MiCareerQuest™ Southwest, sponsored in part by Michigan Works! Southwest, brings together students, educators, and employers for an interactive day of career exploration, where students can weld, code, design, and even test their healthcare skills all under one roof. From virtual reality headsets to heavy machinery simulators, each exhibit shows the real work behind high-demand careers in the region.

More than 40 middle schools from southwest Michigan, primarily Kalamazoo and Calhoun counties, will attend the event Oct. 28 and 29. Over seventy-five career exploration booths representing local employers are expected to showcase a variety of pathways, including health sciences, agricultural sciences, manufacturing/engineering, information technology and professional trades.

As one of the primary sponsors, Michigan Works! Southwest plays a central role in connecting education with workforce needs. Representatives from the organization will be on-site to guide students through their exploration of local career pathways, apprenticeships, and training opportunities available in southwest Michigan.

“Events like MiCareerQuest™ Southwest are vital for helping students understand not just what jobs exist but what skills and education will get them there,” said Jakki Bungart-Bibb, director of Michigan Works! Southwest. “It’s about building bridges between young talent and the industries that drive our region. We’re thrilled to, again, be part of this important event.”

Michigan Works! Southwest is partnering with Kalamazoo RESA, Southwest Michigan First and Calhoun Area Career Center for this year’s MiCareerQuest™ Southwest. For more information, visit, www.micareerquest.org.
