Going PRO Talent Fund Testimonial: Tenneco

Tenneco is a global leader of complete emission systems. At their Marshall campus, Tenneco makes full exhaust systems ranging from Ford F-150’s, Jeep Wrangler, Jeep Truck, Ford Expedition to Lincoln Navigators. To support these efforts, Tenneco Marshall applied for the Going PRO Talent Fund in FY2024 and was awarded $200,400.

Going PRO Talent Fund grants are awarded by Michigan’s Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity to assist employers in enhancing the talent and productivity of current and newly hired employees, while increasing employment retention and the competitiveness of Michigan’s businesses. The training that Tenneco was able to sign up for utilizing Going PRO Talent Fund dollars provided their employees with key skills sets that were lacking and needed to perform their jobs at the highest level. These new skills also helped the organization with succession planning.

With the funding awarded to Tenneco Marshall, 59 new hires were onboarded, and 51 incumbent workers were provided classroom training in courses ranging from leadership, project management to GD&T. In addition, 7 apprentices were provided support in as Electrical Apprentices.

“Being able to train our engineers and continuous improvement professionals at a higher level on A3 problem solving, GD&T and project management has greatly improved our business operations. Putting our supervisors through the leadership cohort training is preparing them for the next step in their career which helps the company prepare for the future and being able to know who’s next in line if manager positions become available. The Go Pro Training grant is a blessing to so many employers. All too often, when our economy isn’t good or sales for a company have decreased and one of the first items of the budget to be eliminated is training. This grant allows companies to continue to invest in their employees and strength the overall organization.” states Tiffany Daniels, a Human Resources Manager at Tenneco Marshall.
