Going PRO Talent Fund Testimonial: Micro-LAM
Micro-LAM stands for innovation: Bold thinking and bring a new industry to Michigan in three critical spaces – laser-assisted machining, ultra-precision diamond tools, and custom optics. The company’s vision for advancing optics manufacturing is a relentless adoption of what’s best, and fearless exploration of what’s next in Michigan and around the world. With the training provided from the 2024 Going PRO Talent Fund award of $6,680, Micro-LAM’s engineers have been able to improve their skills and work independently. This training has provided foundation knowledge which will not only support operational excellence but also open doors to new business opportunities that were previously restricted to individuals with specific certifications.
One of the newly trained employees stated, “The knowledge I gained from the Go engineer SolidWorks – advanced training has helped to position me as a knowledge base for the engineers and has given me the confidence to approach problems and solve them to the benefit of Micro-LAM.”
Another who took the ISO 9001 course says, “The training enhanced my understanding of ISO 9001, giving me the skills to conduct audits, and identify process gaps in our current system. It also strengthened my ability to lead the ISO implementation process, ensuring compliance, and improving documentation to meet the standards. The knowledge gained from the ISO Lead Auditor Training has positioned me & Micro-LAM for sustainable growth by aligning our processes with international standards, driving customer confidence, and improving internal accountability. As we continue this journey, we are not only meeting compliance requirements but also fostering a proactive approach to quality that will shape the future of our organization.”
For the CNC operator, they reported, “The diamond turning class at MCC was a fantastic learning opportunity. I gained deeper insight into setting up tool studs and using inspection equipment. The class also provided ample time for in-depth discussions in various areas of optics, making it highly beneficial for anyone stepping into the industry. I feel more confident and capable in my roll, and I’m excited to apply my enhanced knowledge to help Micro-LAM succeed.”
Connie Spealman who is an Executive Administrative Assistant who has applied for the Going PRO Talent Fund over the year says, “Micro-Lam, we’re committed to continuous learning and development, ensuring our team is equipped with cutting-edge skills to lead in the precision optics field. Working with the Talent Fund these past several years and being awarded, has certainly allowed us to meet and exceed the training goals.”
