Apprenticeship Testimonial: Rosler Metal Finishing USA

Rosler Metal Finishing USA continues to invest in the future of its workforce by expanding opportunities for employees through a Registered Apprenticeship program. With support from the State Apprenticeship Expansion 2020 (SAE) Youth Apprenticeship Readiness Grant (YARG), Rosler has been able to strengthen its talent pipeline while preparing employees for long-term careers in manufacturing.

At the same time, Rosler has been undergoing significant facility improvements designed to support future growth. The company has been implementing 5S practices throughout its facility and relocating its machine shop into the main building. Plans are also underway to install new equipment to manufacture certain vibratory finishing equipment at the North American plant. These investments will help Rosler increase production and revenue while creating additional opportunities for employee advancement.

In partnership with Michigan Works! Southwest, the apprenticeship program at Rosler has played a key role in helping the company diversify and strengthen its workforce. Through the program, apprentices receive targeted training and development that prepares them for critical roles across the organization, including positions in sales, machine assembly, fabrication, and tool and die. The structured program ensures that Rosler can continue to build a skilled workforce ready to meet both current and future operational needs.

A key component of the program includes online training through Pine Technical Community College. These courses introduce apprentices to foundational manufacturing concepts and production technologies, helping individuals with little or no prior exposure to manufacturing begin building a career pathway in the industry. Upon completion of the coursework, participants earn certifications in Manufacturing Foundations and Production Technologies.

In addition to classroom learning, apprentices gain valuable on-the-job training that provides real-world experience and practical knowledge. Together, the coursework and hands-on training prepare participants to successfully complete the U.S. Department of Labor Registered Industrial Manufacturing Technician (IMT) Apprenticeship program. Graduates of the program are well-positioned for career advancement and increased earning potential within the company.

“We greatly appreciate the opportunity this grant provided,” said Pam Bussler, HR Manager at Rosler. “It has allowed us to provide meaningful educational training to our employees and strengthen our workforce for the future.”

Through the combination of training, hands-on experience, and strategic investment, Rosler is not only building a stronger company but also creating sustainable career pathways for employees in advanced manufacturing.
